We noticed recently that some AWN member and affiliate publications were using outdated AWN logos on their web site and/or masthead of printed newspaper. We also noticed many were not using any AWN logo at all. It may seem like old news by now, but a new AWN logo was re-designed last year and implemented across all marketing channels and a new web site mid-year. It was the first change of both identities in nearly a decade.
As a result, we recently contacted all of our AWN member and affiliate publications to urge them to use the current AWN logo on their web site and/or print masthead as a way to acknowledge sales representation by the Alternative Weekly Network. We’ve already received a large number of responses, each publication indicating they had updated their website/masthead. We thank all of you who responded to our request for your support of our sales network and continue to urge those who haven’t had the opportunity to do so yet.
Publications that acknowledge their membership or affiliation with AWN by using the newer logo on their web site/masthead will directly benefit from communicating this relationship to potential advertisers (local, regional and national). Additionally, the use of the AWN logo on member/affiliate publications’ web sites/mastheads will also communicate to potential advertisers that those publications are a represented for national advertising and not solely local advertisements.
You can download the new logos here. If you need any further assistance, contact cody@awn.org or mark@awn.org. Once again, thank you all for your continued and unmatched support of our sales network! Go AWN!
